Renovation plastering Wollongong

Renovations rarely create a neat rectangle of new work. Doorways move, kitchens come out and walls stop in different places. Describe the whole change so the plasterboard scope can include the surfaces that make the completed room feel coherent.

Map the work on each surface

Separate full replacement walls from small make-good areas and new ceiling sections. Include returns around removed cupboards, altered openings and any old finish that remains visible. Photos with the intended changes marked can help an installer understand the job before an inspection.

Decide the boundaries of the finish

Matching old and new surfaces may require work beyond the new opening itself. Ask the contractor to explain that extent, the expected finish and what the painter will need to do. A quotation should also make demolition, framing and trim work clear.

Coordinate the room before lining begins

Electrical and plumbing alterations need to fit the closing-up sequence. Give the installer the renovation stage, access arrangements and any committed dates for cabinetry or painting. If you will keep living there, identify the rooms that can be cleared together and the parts of the home that must remain usable.

Questions about renovation plastering.

Can plastering follow a kitchen removal?

Yes. Describe the exposed walls and ceiling and whether cabinetry dimensions, services and splashback arrangements have been finalised.

Will the old paint need attention afterwards?

It may. Ask how far plastering and painter preparation extend around the changed area and who is responsible for the final paint finish.
